The concept of this group project was to create an installation sculpture to three dimensionally represent a two dimensional texture created by one student. This project was created as a team with Brit Ichinose and Julieta Toiberman, who originally created the two dimensional texture. An organic form that mirrored the repetitive pattern while communicating the depth of the texture was created. This sculpture demonstrated that solid and static materials can create a sense of movement and communicate the same concept in a new way. The circular motion was preserved by using cans and the depth was communicated by offsetting the cans in different areas of interest. The organic shape of the structure was interpreted and reinterpreted (after the sculpture was destroyed) from the organic movement explored in the prior 6" x 6" kinetic texture.
